CED Celebrates Dr. Carol Kasworm’s Service as Department Head
April 22, 2009-- The College of Education celebrated Dr. Carol Kasworm for her 10 years of dedicated service as Department Head of Adult and Higher Education (AHE). Dr. Kasworm began service as head of AHE in 1999.
Dr. Kasworm’s career has spanned nearly 40 years and her list of accomplishments is long and distinguished. She is a leading authority on adult undergraduate students in higher education, including a number of qualitative studies on adult undergraduate learning and the participation patterns of adults in higher education.
She has been honored with the Distinguished Professional Achievement Alumni Award from the College Of Education, University of Georgia; inducted as a Fellow in the International Self-Directed Learning Society; and inducted into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame.
Dr. Kasworm has been principal investigator or director/co-director of 19 foundation, state, and federal grants.
"Carol’s contributions in the College and the Department are well and truly established. Under her stewardship, the department has flourished enjoying success in its teaching, research, and outreach mission. Her leadership and vision are a living legacy," commented Dean Kathryn Moore at the reception held in Kasworm’s honor on April 21.
