CED Students Win at Fourth Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium
March 23, 2009-- The Fourth Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium was held last Wednesday, March 18. There were 159 poster presentations, representing 60 graduate programs and all colleges.
Placing first in the Education Category was Matthew Campbell in Mathematics Education. His poster project was titled, "Mathematics Teachers and Professional Learning Communities: Understanding Professional Development in Collaborative Settings".
Second place winner was Maura Murphy in Adult and Higher Education with her project, "Contingent Faculty: What Impacts their Organizational Commitment."
The goals of the symposium are to showcase the outstanding quality and diversity of graduate-level research at NC State, in addition to providing students with the opportunity to practice their communication skills with those outside of their discipline. The symposium is also designed to demonstrate the importance of graduate level research to state decision-makers.
