Graduate Study in Reading "M" Level Licensure - Grades K-12
Type of Certification
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers a graduate program leading to Reading Licensure at the "M" level (graduate). The 36-hour licensure master's program of study qualifies individuals to teach reading in grades kindergarten through twelve.
Prerequisites
To become licensed in Reading at the graduate level, individuals must already hold, or be qualified to hold, an North Carolina "A" license (undergraduate level), and must complete a master of education degree. Teachers who already have a master's degree and who hold a graduate teaching license in another area can qualify for graduate level licensure in Reading by enrolling in the Graduate School and by pursuing a Licensure Only plan of study. Students who pursue the Licensure Only plan option must meet the master's program requirements.
