The mission of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) is to develop professional educators committed to life-long learning through theory, research, and reflective practice.
The Department prepares education professionals for meaningful work and leadership roles with diverse populations in changing cultural and educational environments through its programmatic offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department offers basic and advanced licensure of teachers for the K-12 public school environment, and also prepares other professionals in education agencies at all levels - colleges, universities and private industry. In addition to undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs, the Department offers undergraduate and graduate courses in Educational Psychology, graduate courses in Youth Development Leadership, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
